A Potential Change in Football NFL Game Rules For 2008
I recently saw that some NFL owners have petitioned the league for a change in football NFL game rules for the 2008 season. The issue at hand is for players with long hair to wear their hair in their helmet instead of having it hanging down their back. This seems like a good idea since the hair is really only a disadvantage to the player because it gives opponents an easy thing to grab onto in order to tackle them. One player this could affect is Troy Polamalu, safety of the Pittsburgh Steelers, who had his long ponytail grabbed by Kansas City's Larry Johnson and was thrown to the turf after an interception against the Chiefs two years ago. The potential rule does not require players to shorten their hair, but would require them to tuck it up inside their helmets when on the field.
