New NFL Football Coaches for the 2008 Season

NFL Football CoachesEvery year the axe falls on at least a handful of NFL head coaches paving the way for new coaches to get their shot to prove themselves. In today's day and age it seems like a loosing season can put even some of the most time-tested veteran coaches at risk of losing their jobs.

The coaching carrousel continues heading into the 2008 season as 4 new NFL football coaches are set to make their NFL head coaching debut this coming season. Mike Smith takes over in Atlanta for Bobby Petrino who resigned just midway through his first year. In Baltimore, John Harbaugh takes over for Brian Billick. Last seasons worst team, The Dolphins, have Tony Sparano taking over for Cam Cameron who only lasted 1 year. In Washington, formed NFL quarterback Jim Zorn takes over for the recently retired Joe Gibbs.

ESPN NFL Football for Xbox

ESPN NFL Football for XboxThe new features of ESPN NFL Football for Xbox make it one of Sega's best football games ever. Some of the new additions to the game include the "crib" and first person game play that is so realistic you think you are actually out on the field competing. The "crib" is a new feature that serves as a showcase for all of the awards and bonus items that you acquire by completing different objectives.

Madden Football is still the best NFL football game on the market, but the new ESPN game is almost as fun to play. However, the ESPN game now has a lot more focus on the individual players' skill rather than the will of artificial intelligence in the past. This game is a must for all football video game fans.

The Biggest Football Score in NFL History

Biggest Football Score in NFL HistoryThe biggest football score in NFL history occurred on Sunday, November 27, 1966 in a game between the Washington Redskins and the New York Giants. The teams combined for 113 total points in a game that matched arch rivals. The Redskins won 72-41, and were accused of running up the score.

With seven seconds remaining and the game already won, the Redskins sent kicker Charlie Gogolak onto the field to kick a 29 yard field goal to push the score to 72-41.
When Redskins coach Otto Graham was asked by reporters after the game why he had sent the kicker out to attempt that last field goal, he responded by saying "he needed the practice."

The Chicago Bears 2008 NFL Draft Needs

NFL DraftThe 2007 NFL season showed the Chicago Bears were mere mortals as they fell from the elite tier of teams in the league. The Bears are in need of a lot of help as the team seems to have aged incredibly the last few years. Hopefully, the Bears will get the infusion of young talent they need in this years NFL draft.

The biggest thing the Bears need is some help on the offensive line. Their inadequacies made Rex Grossman and Cedric Benson look a lot worse than they are because they did not get any help from the line up front. This is where the Bears must do something, as they are in need of at least 2 new faces on this aging line that is breaking down. The only chance for the Bears to improve next year is to either address this glaring weakness in the draft or via free agency.

The Best Selling NFL Jerseys Of 2007

NFL JerseysThe 2007 NFL season was capped off with an actually pretty good NFL Pro Bowl game last night with the Minnesota Viking's rookie running back Adrian Peterson taking home the MVP. Well, with another incredible NFL season in the books NFLShop.com has just recently announced the top 20 selling NFL jerseys from April 1, 2007 to February 8, 2008.

Even though the list looks like your usual popularity contest results, there are a few intriguing names on the list. Perhaps the most sticking of all is the Chicago Bear's Devin Hester showing up 11th on the list. This is incredible considering all he really does is return kicks and punts on special teams. Another shocker is Brady Quinn because the rookie only managed to see the field for a handful of plays.

Here is the complete list according to NFLShop.com:

1. Tony Romo
2. Tom Brady
3. Brett Favre
4. Peyton Manning
5. LaDainian Tomlinson
6. Adrian Peterson
7. Eli Manning
8. Randy Moss
9. Brian Urlacher
10. Troy Polamalu
11. Devin Hester
12. Marion Barber
13. Reggie Bush
14. Ben Roethlisberger
15. Terrell Owens
16. Jason Witten
17. Brady Quinn

The 2 Best NFL Teams Put On Quite a Show in Last Nights Super Bowl

NFL teamsIt was incredible to watch the 2 best NFL teams go to battle in last nights Super Bowl game. I would like to congratulate the New York Giants on their Super Bowl victory and also thank them for winning me 100 bucks. I decided at the last minute to take the Giants getting 12 1/2 points, thinking they would cover the spread but probably lose.

That is one of the best Super Bowls in recent memory and was just incredible to watch. Eli Manning really elevated his status to one of the elite quarterbacks in the league and now has as many Super Bowl rings as his brother Peyton. According to the Nielson ratings on the game, this was the 2nd most watched TV event in history, only second to the last episode of MASH back in the 1980s.

The Latest NFL Line on the Super Bowl

NFL LineWe're only a few hours away from the start of the 2008 Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants, and the odds are just about same as when they opened. I just checked with eight of the biggest sports-books on the Internet and the latest NFL line on the game ranges from the Patriots being favored by 11 1/2 to 12 1/2 points.

I'm expecting this to be a great game, especially since the Patriots only beat the Giants by 3 points in their match up during the regular season. It seems like a lot of points for the Patriots to be favored by and I have to take the points and the Giants. If it's any kind of a game, the Giants should definitely cover the spread and I will be placing my bet on the site that has them getting 12 1/2 points.
