Some Chicago Bears NFL Football Jersey History
The Chicago Bears have been a part of the NFL ever since its inception and their NFL football jersey history has been basically unchanged since the 1956 season. Soon after the Bears introduced the 'C' logo on their helmets for the first time in 1962 and in 1973 the logo changed from white to a white-bordered orange logo and has remained unchanged ever since. In 1984 the Bears made a subtle change to their jerseys by adding the initials GSH to the left sleeve of their jerseys in memory of 'Papa Bear' George Halas, who coached the Chicago Bears from 1920 to 1929, 1932 to 1942, 1946 to 1955, and 1957-1968. When looking at the years he coached it is easy to see why he earned the nickname 'Papa Bear' considering he essentially coached the Bears for almost 50 years, which in today's day and age is absolutely unheard of. Since this addition in 1984 the Bears uniforms have remained unchanged.
