Some Chicago Bears NFL Football Jersey History

NFL Football Jersey HistoryThe Chicago Bears have been a part of the NFL ever since its inception and their NFL football jersey history has been basically unchanged since the 1956 season. Soon after the Bears introduced the 'C' logo on their helmets for the first time in 1962 and in 1973 the logo changed from white to a white-bordered orange logo and has remained unchanged ever since.

In 1984 the Bears made a subtle change to their jerseys by adding the initials GSH to the left sleeve of their jerseys in memory of 'Papa Bear' George Halas, who coached the Chicago Bears from 1920 to 1929, 1932 to 1942, 1946 to 1955, and 1957-1968. When looking at the years he coached it is easy to see why he earned the nickname 'Papa Bear' considering he essentially coached the Bears for almost 50 years, which in today's day and age is absolutely unheard of. Since this addition in 1984 the Bears uniforms have remained unchanged.

The 2008 NFL Monday Night Football Schedule

NFL Monday Night FootballThe 2008 ESPN Monday Night Football schedule was recently released, and there are some shocking things I have noticed already. Firstly, the two Super Bowl teams from last season, the New England Patriots and the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants will only be making one appearance each next season. This comes as a huge surprise considering that the Cleveland Browns, yes that's right, the Cleveland Browns will be making the most appearances with 3. This seems ludicrous considering that the Cleveland Browns had their first good season last year since the Bernie Kosar days and have not played on Monday Night Football in years.

Anyways, here is the complete Monday Night Football schedule for the 2008 NFL season (all times are Eastern):

A Potential Change in Football NFL Game Rules For 2008

Football NFL Game RulesI recently saw that some NFL owners have petitioned the league for a change in football NFL game rules for the 2008 season. The issue at hand is for players with long hair to wear their hair in their helmet instead of having it hanging down their back. This seems like a good idea since the hair is really only a disadvantage to the player because it gives opponents an easy thing to grab onto in order to tackle them.

One player this could affect is Troy Polamalu, safety of the Pittsburgh Steelers, who had his long ponytail grabbed by Kansas City's Larry Johnson and was thrown to the turf after an interception against the Chiefs two years ago. The potential rule does not require players to shorten their hair, but would require them to tuck it up inside their helmets when on the field.

Many People Often Wonder, Do NFL Football Referees Wear Protective Equipment?

Do NFL Football Referees Wear Protective Equipment

In today's NFL game the players are virtually Gladiators that only get faster, stronger and meaner every year and only the strongest survive and stay off the injury report. This often leads many people to wonder, do NFL football referees wear protective equipment like the players because they often get caught up in the action and get knocked around by the players.

Unfortunately for the referees, the only pieces of protective equipment they wear are supporters or cups to protect 'the family jewels,' leaving them vulnerable to injuries from the super-humans they are refereeing on the field. Eventually, you will probably see the referees wearing some kind of protective equipment as more and more of them get knocked down or hurt by the monsters on the field.

Brett Favre Might Not Have Played His Last NFL Football Game

NFL Football GameNews has come out this week that Brett Favre might not have played his last NFL football game and hinted that if the Packers were to need him in the upcoming season that he would be ready. This comes just a month after Favre cried like a little girl while announcing his retirement from the NFL at Lambeau Field.

When Favre was asked what he might do if the Packers lose their newly anointed quarterback Aaron Rodgers to injury and needed some help, "It would be hard to pass up, I guess." This has to be music to Packers fans' ears to hear that their longtime hero and one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL of all-time would be ready to get back on the field if they need him next year.

Buying Unsigned NFL Football Photos Is the Best Way to Go

Unsigned NFL Football PhotosIf you go to a store like Field of Dreams at the mall you will quickly see how outrageously priced the signed and framed NFL football photos are. Even though they look really cool, they cost at least four to five times what it costs to buy unframed and unsigned NFL football photos of the same prints.

Another reason that I think the unsigned versions are the way to go is because all of the forgery issues there have been in sports memorabilia for quite some time. Why not just save yourself from buying an over-priced forgery and just get the picture, and who knows maybe later on you will have a chance to get it signed for real. There is nothing worse than spending excessive money on sports memorabilia only to find out later that what you paid top dollar for is actually a fake.
