The NFL Draft: A Closer Look

NFL Draft
The NFL Draft this year was remarkable. With incredible coverage from ESPN, ESPN 2, and the NFL Network, there was nonstop analysis and information regarding the draft.

The first pick of the NFL Draft was given to the Detroit Lions. Last season, the Lions failed to win a game and went 0-16. They decided to go with a young quarterback named Matthew Stafford from Georgia. The deal was struck a day before the actual draft. Stafford agreed to a 6 year contract worth no less than $41.7 million and the potential to make up to $78.

The Chicago Bears 2008 NFL Draft Needs

NFL DraftThe 2007 NFL season showed the Chicago Bears were mere mortals as they fell from the elite tier of teams in the league. The Bears are in need of a lot of help as the team seems to have aged incredibly the last few years. Hopefully, the Bears will get the infusion of young talent they need in this years NFL draft.

The biggest thing the Bears need is some help on the offensive line. Their inadequacies made Rex Grossman and Cedric Benson look a lot worse than they are because they did not get any help from the line up front. This is where the Bears must do something, as they are in need of at least 2 new faces on this aging line that is breaking down. The only chance for the Bears to improve next year is to either address this glaring weakness in the draft or via free agency.

The Top Offensive Prospects for Next Years NFL Draft

NFL DraftWith the NFL regular season coming to a close in the next few weeks, next years NFL draft is all the fans of the cellar dwellers have to look forward to. The NFL draft is still four months away, and a lot will happen in those four months to influence who goes where.

This draft appears to be real heavy with defensive players, as most of the projected first rounds picks come from that side of the ball. However, here is a list of the five best offensive players to be picked in the first round of next year's NFL draft:

1. Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas. Arguably the best running back in the draft and a perpetual highlight reel.
2. Matt Ryan. QB, Boston College. Proved this year he can play at the next level.
3. Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville. Solid season this year. Would have been a first round pick last year.
4. Jake Long, OT, Michigan. The best lineman in this years draft who could anchor a line for years to come.
5. Andre' Woodson, QB, Kentucky. Big pocket passer with great instincts.

The Best Fantasy Football Rookies from the 2007 NFL Draft

NFL DraftAdrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch are hands down the best fantasy football rookies from the 2007 NFL draft. Rookies generally do not have much of an impact in fantasy football, but these 2 stud running backs have definitely raised the bar.

Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings is currently leading the NFL in rushing yards, and has had 2 games with over 200 yards. His 296 yard 3 TD performance against the San Diego Chargers set a new NFL record for rushing yards in a game.

Marshawn Lynch of the Buffalo Bills has not been a slouch either; he is currently ninth in the NFL in rushing yards with 751 and has scored 6 TDs. These are especially impressive numbers considering the Bills are one of the lowest scoring offenses in the league.
